Prof. Mário Mendonça de Oliveira, Bahia Federal University, Brazil

Mário Mendonça de Oliveira is an architect and professor, speacialized in restoration of cultural property. Reponsible for the courses on Tecnologia da Restauração I and II and Leitura e Documentação dos Monumentos no PPG-AU (Post-Graduate Program in Architecture and Urban Planning), and also od the CECRE (International Courses on Conservation and Restoration of Monuments and Historical Towns) promoted by UNESCO and the National Historical and Artistical Heritage Institute. Founder and co-ordinator of the NTPR (Nucleus for Preservationa and Restoration Technology) one of the few laboratories dedicated exclusively to the research of the cultural heritage preservation in Brazil. He has been published more than 90 times (books, chapters, papers).

Restoration, Monument preservation in an environmental and landscape context
Mr. David M. Hansen, Ico-For, U.S.A.

Historian, speacialized in historic preservation and military architecture. Member of the Faculty, Pacific Northwest Historic Preservation Field School. Co vice-president and expert member of the ICO-For, Scientific Committe on Fortifications and Military Heritage, of ICOMOS. Team member of project and interventions on fortifed settlements like the For Worden National Historic Landmark Development Plan; Fort Flagler Hospital Structure Reposrt; Battery William Worth Restoration; Fort Casey Second Century Planning Team. Author of several books on fortifications like: Seacoast Fortifications Preservation Manual (1999) e Historic Fortifications Preservation Handbook (2003), Theory and Practice in the Preservation and Interpretation of Fortifications (2008), Restoration of Historic Concrete Fortifications in the United States (2005), Practice and Compromise: the Restoration of a Historic Fortification (2005), Military Architecture as a Factor in the Significance of Fortifications (2006).

Cultural intervention and new uses
Prof. Miguel Ángel Vinuesa, Complutense University of Madrid, Spain

Miguel Ángel Troitiño Vnuesa is a Geographer. PHd in Geography by the Complutense University of Madrid, where he also teaches since 1973. Cathedratic teacher of Human Geography since 1991. Speacialist in urban geography, urban planning, tourism and landscape development, field areas where he has worked as a researcherm professor and planner  seeking commitments between research, planning an landscape development with special concern to the resources evaluation questions and the relationships between cultural heritage, tourism and environment.
